Blogs are an excellent traffic tool because the simplicity of adding content to your website can be done very quickly from anywhere. Giving that ability you can update your blog with fresh content daily or weekly or even monthly if you are not the greatest on adding content. This can be done simple by logging into your blog admin and entering your content. Whether it be and article you repost from a free article site such as goarticles.com or if it’s original content that you put your heart into. (which is preferred BTW)
Keep in mind that updating your blog on a daily basis gives your site special attention from search engine spiders. Just the simple fact of putting new content on your blog keeps the spiders coming back more frequently. I will call it SEO food. But it’s not only for the search engines it’s also for your readers as well.
Take this into consideration when submitting your blog to search engines. Just submitting your blog to search engines can take up to 3 to 6 months to get listed. But by simple posting in your blog then commenting on other blogs that allow you to link to your blog will give you a solid link back and will get your site indexed much faster. Nine times out of 10 you will see your site indexed with in a week or 2, sometimes in days. So by nature it is not really needed to submit your blog to search engines if you are making a daily effort to update your blog site.
If you want to have a successful blog site you need to make a whole hearted effort to update it daily. Even just finding a post on another blog that you genuinely liked and commenting about it. Maybe even quoting what the author said is a great way to update your blog. Just be sure to link to said blog.
But once again… BE ORIGINAL!
Keep this in mind. It’s been a common known fact that search engines give more attention to blogs with large amounts of great content on them. The weight of the results is higher than a normal static website. They tend to have more personal opinions and views rather than some sales man trying to sell you a widget you don’t need.
Setting up a blog is actually quite simple. You can go to Blogger.com and have a blog up and running in 5 minutes. Blogger has its limits of course but it’s great for the beginner and the seasoned professional.
Blogger is owned by Google. Setting up your blog with Blogger gives you the ability to either use blogspot to host your blog remotely. Or if you have your own hosting acct you can input your FTP information from within Blogger and have it post to your website.
Keep in mind that Google owns Blogger. So when if you decide to make a blog with Blogger you can bet that your blog with get indexed faster by Google than other search engines.
One other excellent feature that Blogger offers is that once you set up your Blogger acct you can make a profile on Blogger. This gives people the ability to find your blog by profile or interest. If you’re interested in cars, camera phones, and classical music your profile will be linked to those who have an interest in cars, camera phones, and classical music. It’s really a quite remarkable service. No wonder Google bought Blogger…
If you don’t have a blog yet go to Blogger.com and get one. It’s FREE! Then make a comment about this post and I will check it out. If I like it
